In the meantime, here are some basic data on the process behind us, which resulted in this Programme becoming a reality:

Hungary and the Republic of Serbia co-operated in a joint structure through shared management and joint decision making, in order to prepare the ground for the 2021 – 2027 Programme to be launched. In the period between 2019 and 2021, a thorough and dedicated work has been conducted by the Programming Committee, current 2014-2020 Programme bodies, National Authorities and representatives of the EC DG REGIO. The Programme priorities and objectives (chosen by the participating partner countries from the list of the Policy objectives and Specific objectives available in Article 3 of the 2021/1058 Regulation and Article 14 of the (Interreg) Regulation 2021/1059), as well as the main implementation modalities has been developed mutually. As a result of this process, Territorial Analysis (TA), Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and the Interreg Programme (IP) documents have been prepared, and the the IP has been submitted to European Commission on 01 April 2022. Finally, on 14 October 2022 The European Commission (EC) approved the new Interreg IPA programme between Hungary and Serbia.

The total EU contribution to the Programme (ERDF/IPA-Instrument for Pre Accession Assistance) is EUR 63 550 000.  Taking into consideration the national counterpart (including also the own contribution of the future project partners), the total budget of the new Interreg VI-A IPA Hungary-Serbia Programme is EUR 74 764 705. The new Programme will be implemented within the 2021-2027 financial perspective of the European Union.
