BARTOK project aims to foster cultural cooperation between Hungary and Serbia by establishing two cross-border Artistic FabLabs. The project aims to blend traditional and digital art forms, with Bela Bartok as a central theme, promoting mutual understanding, learning, and cultural diversity.

Project Description:

BARTOK (Borderless Artistic Realm Through Opportunities and Knowledge) project is a comprehensive initiative fostering cultural cooperation and exchange between Hungary and Serbia. The project aims to create a cross-border Artistic FabLab centred around traditional and digital art forms, with the shared cultural icon Bela Bartok (Barók Béla), as the unifying theme.
The project will implement an Artist Residency Program, enabling artists and local people and staff to work in the partner country's FabLab for two weeks. 
The project includes community engagement activities, such as a panel discussion on the sustainable promotion of contemporary arts and preservation of cultural heritage, an Art and Technology Lecture Series, and joint cultural events culminating in cross-border festivals. 

(Expected) Results:

  • Establishment of cross-border Artistic FabLabs centred around traditional and digital art forms, with the shared cultural icon Bela Bartok, as the unifying theme
  • Artist Residency Program, enabling 16 artists (8 from each country) and local people and staff to work in the partner country's FabLab for two weeks
  • Artist Technological Skill Training Program (ARTSTEP), providing artists with practical knowledge about the FabLabs' equipment, safety procedures, and creative applications
  • Panel discussions on the sustainable promotion of contemporary arts and preservation of cultural heritage
  • Art and Technology Lecture Series
  • Joint cultural events culminating in cross-border festivals
  • Opening and a closing conference
