Project Description:

The Hungarian-Serbian border region grapples with two significant challenges in healthcare: scarcity of specialists and inconsistent quality of care. These issues notably impact the diagnosis, management, and overall patient outcomes related to metabolic syndrome and ENT conditions, with the geographical remoteness and the difficult border crossing possibilities, adding to the challenge of healthcare access.
The project targets two main groups: patients with metabolic syndrome and ENT conditions residing in the border region, and the healthcare professionals employed at both the University of Szeged and Senta Hospital.

This project aims to improve healthcare quality and addresses the cross-national shortages of medical specialists. The goal is to utilize the already established medicine infrastructure at the University of Szeged to expand its reach to Senta Hospital for the treatment of metabolic syndrome and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) problems.

(Expected) Results:

The primary output of this project will be a fully operational, expanded telemedicine system at Senta Hospital and in the University of Szeged, dedicated to diagnosing and managing metabolic syndrome and ENT conditions. This expansion will significantly contribute to bridging the gap in specialist healthcare provision, promoting health equity in the region.

The secondary output of the project is the acquisition of the necessary skills to use the telemedicine system. These series of workshops will include training of the professional staff of the two institutions, specifically aimed at using the tools purchased and building harmonious cooperation.
The expected results include:

  • the improvement in healthcare quality,
  • the enhancement of patient health outcomes,
  • the professional capacity building at Senta Hospital.

By fostering the crossborder collaboration between the University of Szeged and Senta Hospital, the project also contributes to a stronger regional healthcare infrastructure.
