FERTILEAVES is developing a pioneering biofortification technology at the leaf level using combined biological and nanotechnological processes. Supported by advanced analytics, this technology promotes sustainable, eco-friendly crop production while addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental toxicity. By strengthening collaboration between R&D and the agri-food sector, FERTILEAVES aims to boost cross-border competitiveness and support the EU's toxic-free environment goals. This pilot serves as a model for future agricultural biofortification efforts, adaptable across various crops, to enhance resilience and productivity in an evolving climate.
(Expected) Results:Three major outcomes of the FERTILEAVES project are:
1. Selection and characterization of microorganisms for the invented technology,
2. Working out the nanotechnological component of the invented technology,
3. Optimization of methods for sample preparation and determination of selected compounds in control and treated plants,
4. Identification of CECs,
5. Finalizing the invented foliar treatment technology; proof of concepts experiment with the invented technology.
