Project Description:

The project aims at the prevention of youth peer violence, through training and awareness-raising at different levels, by widely disseminating a methodological manual, which sets out the steps to be taken to achieve this goal. As part of this complex project, we will develop the methodology, which will be evaluated in the process and the feedback will be incorporated into the material. At the end of the project, before publication, the target group will try out the proposed activities.

(Expected) Results:

The goal we want to achieve, which is to reduce peer violence among young people through awareness-raising and educational programs, with the final output being a methodological manual. The aim is to produce a comprehensive set of methodological materials that encompass the specifics of the two countries and approach the phenomenon of bullying from a mental health perspective.

Three outputs are identified. The first step of which is a needs assessment of the target group.

Based on this identified target group, a training methodology will be developed and refined in two rounds based on feedback, which will be published at the end of the project, after the evaluation.  The steps and outputs of the evaluation process are the TT camps where the mentors are trained and then the youth camps where the best mentors in the TT camps carry out the tasks.

Main focal points of the TT camps:

  • The basics of mental hygiene, supportive conversation, the importance of peer education
  • The psychology of school bullying, prevention options
  • Non-violent communication
  • Conflict management
  • Basics of workshop/camp facilitation
  • Prevention of online bullying
  • Child and youth protection: alternative preventions

The camps will take place in both countries. The aim is to build a network of contacts between young people from both countries who can pass on what they have heard to their peers and initiate individual and group changes at a skill level that will reduce bullying and peer abuse.

The main output of the project is a developed and refined manual, which ensures both the sustainability, capitalization and long-term impact of the project, as it can be used by anyone to organize a professional peer violence reducing prevention program.
