Project Description:

The inspiration for our project is Sándor Bálint (1904-1980), a renowned ethnographer and one of the most significant figures of 20th-century ethnography and folklore. His beatification trial is ongoing - and for this reason, he will be remembered not only as a scholar but also as a promoter of religious piety and a person of religious significance on the 120th anniversary of his birth. His main research topics were religious folklore and festivals, giving our project a topicality.
JOURNEY project is a cross-border collaboration to highlight and promote the Serbian-Hungarian border region's rich religious and cultural heritage. This initiative is a partnership between local religious communities, cultural heritage organisations, tourism boards, and local governments from Vojvodina, Csongrád, and Bács-Kiskun counties.

(Expected) Results:

- Comprehensive Database: A database detailing religious holidays tied to holy places and churches across Vojvodina, Csongrád, and Bács-Kiskun counties, capturing their historical and cultural significance.
- A jointly prepared tourism strategy will focus on religious festivals and their sites.
- Digital Platforms: An interactive application and website providing comprehensive information about these religious holidays and their associated holy places and features for planning site visits.
- Increased Tourism: A boost in the number of tourists visiting the region, as tracked through the digital platform and collaborating tourism service providers.
