Cross-border Collaboration for Adaptation, Resilience and Environmental Transformation

CARE-CONNECT enhances disaster resilience in Hungary-Serbia through cross-border collaboration and in digital platform for real-time disaster management. It trains volunteers, hosts eco-camps, and raises climate awereness among 280 participants. A network of 20 organizations ensures sustainability, policy-integrated outcomes.

Project Description:

The CARE CONNECT project strengthens disaster risk prevention and climate change adaptation in the Hungary- Serbia border region. Focusing on enhanced collaboration between the Red Cross organizations of Vojvodina and Csongrad County, it establishes cross border systems for coordinated disaster responses to floods, fires, and droughts. A digital platform facilitates real-time data exchange, while volunteers are equipped with skills and tools to handle emergencies. The project involves 280 participants in workshops and eco-camps, raising climate awareness and fostering envoronmental stewardship. Long term outcomes include a network of 20 organizations and integration of results into local policies.

Expected Results

  • Enhanced Disaster Preparedness: Early warning system, disaster plans, and training involving 50 trained volunteers for quicker recovery during extreme weather. 
  • Climate- Resilient Communities: Sustainable practice promoted to 280 participants through workshops, webinars, and eco, camps. 
  • Youth Empowerment: Eco-camps for 120 young participants, fostering environmental stewardship and disaster management skills.
  • Volunteer Capacity Strengthened: Specialized training and equipment provided for 50 volunters, enhancing disaster response effectiveness. 
  • Cross-Border Cooperation: A digital platform for real-time data exchange among Red Cross organizations of Vojvodina and Csongrad County. 
  • Durability and sustainability:  Creation of a network of 20 organizations for sustained cross-border collaboration; Policy intergration of project outcomes to ensure long-term impact; Active engagement of local communities in project activities for ownership and continued efforts.
